Activities on Land

 ​Luau's
  • One of the most popular things to do when vacationing on Maui is to see a luau, and there are plenty to choose from!  Whether on the West side or South side of Maui, you'll find several options for luau's.  Many of them are oceanfront with beautiful views of the sunset, some have fire dancers, some have full service dinners & tables you can book.  My personal favorite is the Old Lahaina Luau - it's worth driving from South Maui for this one!

Maui Ocean Center
  • With their sea turtle exhibit, aquariums of all sizes showcasing the tropical fish and marine life found off Maui's coasts, and their infamous open ocean tunnel where sharks and rays swim all around you, the ocean center is a great place to visit for the whole family! They also offer a behind the scenes tour, shark dives in their 750,000 gallon Open Ocean exhibit, birthday parties, and wedding ceremonies & receptions.  The new Humpbacks of Hawai'i exhibit is a must-do.  For tickets visit https://mauioceancenter.com/

Maui Tropical Plantation
  • Featuring beautiful grounds, Nene birds, the Mill House Restaurant, zip lining (great for kids!), a fantastic gift shop, and tours of their gardens, the Maui Tropical Plantation is a great stop in Central Maui.  You can visit for free and/or pay for the tours.

Zip lining
  • There are several zip lining companies on Maui with locations in West Maui, upcountry, and East Maui.  The Maui Tropical Plantation offers family friendly lines for kids as young as 5, Jungle Zip in East Maui is great for beginners, Piiholo Ranch upcountry offers side by side lines, and Skyline in West Maui offers a Zip n Dip and a double racing line.  No matter which place you choose, the views are beautiful! Average price $110 but you can often find deals when visiting the companies websites directly.

​Horseback Riding
  • There are several ranches offering horseback rides on Maui that can be anywhere from 1.5 hours to 1/2 day rides, sunset rides, and there's even a ranch that offers a helicopter ride followed by horseback riding.  Check each companies website regarding kids age requirements (some start at age 7 and up) and for prices ranging from $135 - $275 for rides and $490 for the helicopter and horseback riding package.

ATV and Off-Road UTV Tours
  • A great outdoor adventure for the whole family, you can find options offering single-rider ATV's or a UTV offering seating for 2-5 people.  Closed toe shoes and long pants are highly recommended, possibly required by the company, and plan on getting dusty and maybe muddy!  Available on West Maui, prices ranging from $130 - $189

​Adventure Park
  • *Due to the August 2023 fires, Aerial Adventure Park is currently closed.  Located in Lahaina, this is a fun family activity offering three levels of adventure including one for for kids as young as 5.  Reservations are required for this Aerial Adventure Park with over 50 Different at height climbing elements to choose from.

​Golf
  • Maui offers golf courses in Wailea, Kaanapali, Kapalua, Kahalui, and Paia.  With fairways offering views of lava beds, the ocean, rainbows, and surrounded by palm trees, golfing on Maui is a one of a kind experience!

​Hiking
​Rappelling
  • To experience one of the most unique adventures on Maui, book a rappelling tour!  Your tour can include canyoneering and zip lining as well, and all are done along the Road to Hana where Maui's waterfalls are found.  

Spa Day
  • Many of the larger resorts and hotels on Maui offer relaxing massages and spa services that use products and scents from the island to help you feel relaxed and at your best!  

Tennis
  • Many condo complexes offer free tennis courts to residents and rental customers.  You can also find the Wailea Tennis Club, the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch with 11 courts and offers match making for visitors and club members, and courts at some of the high end resorts.  There are also several free public courts available around the island through the parks system.
